“Healing the Crack In My Heart”
‘My name is Bridget Tamayi. I am 36 years old and mother to five children, including twins born last year. I am HIV-positive…
My personal life was like a disaster. I grew up as a double orphan under my grandmother’s care…it was difficult for me in everything. No food, all the beatings and harrassment. I grew up with a very big heartbreak because I had nowhere to go for help and no one to talk to.
My tears had been flowing all the time…but I kept on praying. Then I met Mother Cecilia (Cecilia Masekereya, Programs Coordinator for the Shingirirai Trust). I asked her to come and see what was happening in my area, in Tafara.
The kids in my area were very hungry…during the rainy season, babies were drowning in deep holes full of water in the fields.
Now the program has happened in my area and I am happy for that… very happy to be working with the children. I have learned how to communicate and counsel them, and how to help them learn through play.
But I still have a crack in my heart because we have got those who are under the age of the ECLD program (the Shingirirai Trust’s Early Child Learning Development program, aimed at orphans and vulnerable children aged 3-6 years), and they need help too.’

We invite you to join forces with Bridget and the Shingirirai Women as they work to regenerate their community in the face of enormous daily challenges. Your support of €10 each month for a year, a single payment of €120, or any amount you feel able to give, will help Bridget to develop in her role of psychosocial supporter for orphans and vulnerable young children in the Trust’s care.
Thank You.
